Dentists know: Sports are not always the best for teeth
As a child, summertime is the best. No school, no parents, and absolutely the best weather. With no parents, no school, and really great weather, hopefully, comes the outdoors. This story is about a boy and his brother, who were bored and decided to take combine trampoline bouncing and dodgeball. Now, as you likely can already tell, this sounds ends in either a fantastic day of fun or a trip to some sort of emergency medical center; if you know the competition that exists between brothers, then your inclination will probably lean toward the latter. Not only did this game turn into a competition, but the balls quickly turned into other items: Rocks.
Dodgeball is a Game for the Bold
The game of dodgeball started off pretty normal, as far as trampoline dodgeball goes. trampoline with one jumping, a ring of different sized household balls, and a determined set of brothers. Soon, however, throwing one ball at a time turned into two, which turned into three, which then turned into anger. Having a brother hit you, then laugh, is enough to get anyone riled up. The game continued on, while points were tallied, and positions were exchanged. If these young boys could see into the future, they may have stopped now, and their mother would have probably been grateful for not having to taken them to the an emergency dentist.
Rock vs. Tooth
The game of fun turned into a game of aggression, and as most competitions go as young children, the younger sibling was losing. Seeking retaliation, the younger brother decided to throw a rock. Well, his aim was true, and the older sibling was drilled directly in his front tooth. The tooth cracked immediately and crying ensued. In between the blood, tears, and overall shame/excitement, the little sibling phoned his mother, who in turn reached out to their local Missoula dentist’s office. Within hours, the tooth was freshly capped and the boys were quickly back to their mischievous ways.
While this story may be a bit comical, there is a lesson learned; ensure that your dentist is willing to accept same-day patients, especially if you have children. If you ever need immediate dental care, get in contact with our Missoula dentist, Dr. Duke.
